Medieval Military

I bought this bodice a couple of years ago and despite being wool, on the few occasions I've worn it, I've opted to dress it up as evening-wear. It's from the 1970s and according to the seller came with matching high-waisted flares that attached to the bodice via the hook and eyes that line its hem (I wasn't too disappointed to hear that these were disintegrated beyond repair and disposed of by the seller). Bit of an odd choice for me; I'm not hugely fond of the 70s, the faded sage green colour isn't exactly prevalent in my wardrobe, and the structure is pretty rigid and shoulder-enhancing. But... I loved the beaded, medieval crest, and I have super narrow shoulders so welcomed the idea of a bit of balance to my hips. I'd just seen the Marc Jacobs SS15 show when I bought this, which fused femininity, sage green, military details and jet black hair to surprisingly pleasing effect, and obviously urged me to buy something slightly different for me (but not actual Marc Jacobs, sorry Marc).

Vintage bodice and bag, Lanvin shoes, ASOS skirt, self-made belt.

The Lanvin shoes I first spotted way-back in 2009, and thanks to persistent ebaying, I managed to make them mine two or three years ago, brand new, and for a very good price. Never give up!

And dressed down with a white turtleneck (which oddly adds a sci-fi/jockey vibe to the already confusing mixture of medieval/military)

Festooned in Feathers

Just a super casual Sunday outfit.... leggings, cardigan and a vest, topped off with a confection of feathers. The shoes are a lovely burgundy velvet with a patent leather toe cap, to which I added some shoe clips. Really enjoying a good block heel at the moment too.

Everyone likes capes!

I didn't have much time to get dressed today, hence my lack of jewellery/outlandishness, so I kept it pretty simple. This dress is an 80's body-con dream. It is so easy to just throw on and accessorize accordingly. And its mega comfy. As I look pretty plain today, thought I'd bring out the old cape to add a bit of interest. Its got a hood and everything! I do love a good cape, but I always end up with chilly arms as it sits just at my elbow. In the face of such a conundrum, I conjured up an immense amount of brain power, and came to the genius conclusion that I should just wear long gloves to keep my precious arms warm. So thats what I did. Also, because the cape is elbow length, you could just see the fringe of my jacket peeping out, which was mega fun. For your enjoyment, I have attatched a picture of me doing some form of wild, fringe shaking dance below. Oh and one more thing, because I didn't have to carry much today, I got to use my little feather handbag, which I have just realised looks like a owl staring back at you. Its awfully pretty, but not that practical being so small/fragile/colourful.

Black cape (Mango), vintage fur hat, copper shoes (New Look), leather gloves (Oasis), vintage handbag, blazer (John Lewis), vintage dress, leather belt (Topshop), silk scarf (Liberty of London).
